Make many versions of ideas

When writing, for example, don’t edit in-place. Make a version of an idea. Then, make a new version. Keep the old one. Either copy the old one and edit it, or start from scratch. Keep this around and you’ll have visible choices. Even with the copying, there’s still plenty of space. You can keep everything you ever write.
